Another SiteWatch feature allows you to "locally approve" credit card transactions when the Internet is down, provided these sales are below a pre-specified amount. You determine the amount of this threshold, for example $25 or $35. You can also set a dollar limit on the total amount of all credit card transactions that can be approved locally, such as $1,000.
If a sale is over the specified limit, an employee with special clearance can override this restriction. For example, if your locally approved sales are restricted to $35 or less, and a customer wants to purchase a $50 prepaid card, an authorized employee can override this limit, and the transaction will be approved. However, the total limit that you establish for all locally approved sales cannot be overridden by any employee or manager.
Setting these limits reduces your risk from bad credit cards, since you are fully liable for sales that have been locally approved at your car wash, but are later rejected by the card processor.
The locally approved feature of SiteWatch Instant Card Clearing can only be activated by the DRB Systems support team after receiving a written request from you. This protects the system from fraud and abuse. SiteWatch will also send a message to all terminals every hour when the Internet is down, and a car wash is in the local approval mode.
During the local approval mode, credit card sales continue to queue up for future processing when the Internet connection is restored. Locally approved credit card sales that are waiting to be approved by the card processor are displayed on the PC and Touchscreen terminals.
Taken together, these new features make SiteWatch Instant Card Clearing an even more powerful and versatile tool for you as a car wash operator.
