Support Team Helps First Class Car Center Get Up And Running After Lightning Strike


Sunny skies, warm temperatures, beautiful Gulf Coast beaches
, Ft. Myers, Florida has a lot to recommend it as a place to live or visit. However, along with all of these wonderful attributes, this city of roughly 50,000 also has another feature that sometimes makes life interesting – it’s in the heart of the “lightning belt.”

“I love this area, it has so many great things going for it, but we do get more than our share of electrical storms,” said Dan Strauss, owner of First Class Car Center. “Lightning strikes are not uncommon here.”

Strauss knows whereof he speaks. His bustling full-service carwash/multi-profit center has been struck by lightning twice since it opened in 2000. This experience has left him with a deep respect for the power of Mother Nature -- and an appreciation for the lightning-quick responsiveness of the DRB Systems support team.

“Our first lightning strike occurred at night,” he recalled. “When we tried to open the next morning, we discovered that our circuit boards were fried. The support team diagnosed the problem quickly, and had replacement boards delivered to us the next day, so we could get back up and running fast.”

The DRB Systems support team also installed surge protectors at First Class Car Center. These devices helped minimize damage in May 2004, when lightning struck there again, scoring a direct hit on the carwash tunnel. “We had some things go out on us, but we were able to continue running our business without interruption,” said Strauss.
