PASSing A Milestone

SiteWatch® FastPass® Tags Shipped to Carwash Owners Now Exceeds 250,000

Everything about the SiteWatch FastPass is “fast,” including how quickly it’s been embraced by customers at carwashes from coast to coast. DRB Systems, Inc. which introduced the wireless acceptance system just a few short years ago, has announced that the number of FastPass Tags issued to carwashes for use by their customers has passed the 250,000 milestone.

The fact that so many consumers are now using FastPass says a great deal about the system’s performance and reliability. It also demonstrates that FastPass is delivering real benefits to the carwash operators and their customers.

FastPass uses radio frequency identification to activate tags and recognize vehicles as they approach the SiteWatch Xpress Pay Terminal® (XPT®). This allows FastPass to complete transactions in less than three seconds, without even requiring customers to lower their windows.

Aside from saving time for FastPass users, the wireless acceptance system also makes lines move faster for other customers. Every vehicle behind the FastPass customer in line spends less time waiting because the wireless transaction is completed so quickly. This time savings is amplified as more customers add FastPass tags to their windshields.

Also contributing to the rapid growth of FastPass is the increasing popularity of monthly pass programs run with the SiteWatch Automatic Recharge Module® (ARM®). FastPass tags have provided carwash operators with a convenient and effective way to identify the vehicles of monthly pass customers.

When the monthly pass vehicle approaches the XPT, FastPass activates the windshield tag to call up the customer’s file in SiteWatch. The computer system then recognizes the file and authorizes the wash, raising the gate at the XPT station so the customer can drive up to the tunnel entrance.

For their part, carwash operators appreciate the fact that FastPass saves customers so much time, since this increases throughput and volume, in addition to enhancing the customer’s experience. FastPass also helps operators lock in loyalty by making prepaid promotions and monthly pass programs more attractive to customers and easier to execute.

Given the quick, and early acceptance that FastPass has enjoyed, it’s safe to assume that there will soon come a day when there are a half million windshield tags on the road. After that, who knows? FastPass tags may become as common a sight on cars as bumper stickers!
